Re- Steve's message, I have removed the bow tank. I believe I have posted about that without pictures, this time I have downloaded the pictures from my camera for posting. It is not only the weight of the fuel forward, but the black steel tank itself is very, very heavy. Also, when stowing the anchor chain in that area it brings the weight of chain aft and down which helps for stability. Pictures to be posted show:1) existing 100 gal Stainless steel water tank in the keel; 2) cutting the 100 gals into 60 gals fuel and 40 gals of water (I have a water maker on board and carry 20 gals in Jerry cans plus 10 gals in bottles); 3) 40 gal water tank installed; notice the existing access cover and a new smaller access cover aft of that. The water maker is fed to a 10 gals "day-tank" section baffled off internally and served by the handpump in pantry only for drinking/ coffee purpose. An overflow at the top of the baffle will feed the 30 gallon remaining volume that typically contains shore supplied water of unknown quality for dishes, washing, etc.; it is connected to the electrical pump. I am planning to convert the 15 gal shower gray water tank to either additional water or diesel fuel and install one of the electrical direct pumpout shower water collectors in the bottom of the shower pan (which has several gals of retention volume under the grating). I hope that helps, Hans Starlight Dancer TY37 ketch # 424.
