Here are some pictures of our new Staysail rigging on board Slow Motion. We removed the staysail boom this past winter. We re-rigged with Garhauer and Harken blocks. The block that runs across on the rail is a custom made piece of hardware from Garhauer. I had to add to new pad eyes to the cabin top to accommodate the new blocks. I used 1/2 inch thick starboard as a spacer between the deck and pad eye. After drilling oversize holes I filled them with West two part epoxy, let it dry then re-drilled the holes with correct size . I laid down 3m 4200 and to keep out moisture. I think the block was around 70-80 bucks....I know I have the receipt but cannot locate it right now. I will check on the boat tomorrow and if I find it I will let you know. I sent Guido a picture of what I wanted since it wasn't a stock item. I need to order a spare block too. I just made the changes to my rigging this Spring so haven't sailed with it yet. I do know another TOG member has this same set up and has been running it for quite some time. For mounting pad eyes and blocks, I used 1/4 X 3inch SS machine screws and acorn nuts. I drilled thru the cabin top with a bit that was two sizes larger, then filled the hole with West Systems Six 10 thickened epoxy. I let that set up for a couple of days then re-drilled the holes with the 1/4 inch bit. I filled the holes with 3M 4200 and also used 4200 between the starboard and deck and the pad-eye holes the machine screws went in. I have SS backing plates inside that I ordered from Defender.com. The pad eye that I added on the starboard side, that the staysail control line runs thru, I would move it outboard by 6 additional inches if I was doing it all over again. -- Curt Brownlow Portland, Oregon 1981 Tayana 37 Pilot House "Slow Motion"
