I had much the same concern as you and decided to affix a standard fold up transom ladder to the port quarter, just like the attached photo (not my T37, but I loooove the paint job). 

The ladder will be held up with a 1/4in nylon line passed around the lower rungs, but releasable from the water by pulling a lanyard dangling from a snap shackle. Worked on my former boat, a Pearson 30, no reason it shouldn’t work on Wishes. I was able to find a very nice fold up ladder of suitable length on Craigslist for ~$100, and I’ll install the system before launching this Spring.
