Cat Ver II: Stb side view of both 44lb Manson (rope/chain) & 66lb Bruce (all chain) in the catted position. Anchor chains on both are not as tight as they would be off the dock. Cat Ver IIa: Top view of the warping fairlead showing the open topped shives allowing chain from the rope capstan to be moved to the gypsy for final pull up. I would not recommend this system where the port anchor exceeds 44lbs as it gets too heavy to switch easily in a swell. I use chain hooks to secure the chain when it comes up to avoid losing fingers. Cat Ver IIb: Stb side view more clearly showing the catting system from a little back. The cross member supporting the anchor hooks bears directly onto the bowsprit and the warping fairleads bear directly onto the cross member making absolutely no contact with the platform assembly. The shive arbours are just big SS capscrews and the rollers are standard cheapo boat trailer rollers. Easy to replace if chewed. Once the anchor is at the marked place at the roller it is simply a matter of reaching down with a boat hook and lifting the back of the anchor into the hook. The positioning is such that the anchor can not hit the hull during recovery no matter what's going on. Catching the anchor ring can be a bit tricky in a swell though. JD Victoria BC
